Canvas Duffel Bags

What makes canvas duffle bags different than any other duffel bags?

Canvas duffel bags are made out of very stout cloth. The material canvas (probably named for cannabis, a Greek word) has been made from strong and coarse fibers of hemp, flax, and cotton. The double wrap weaving was intended to withstand pressure or rough usage. In the Ancient and earlier times, such fibers were used to produce cloths for sails. Today you can find canvas virtually everywhere. Articles made from canvas include golf bags, running shoes, tents, mailbags, Artists’ canvas, and in this case-duffel bags. You’ll notice the pattern of the way the canvas material was woven in a canvas duffel bag and artist canvas is similar.

Canvas duffel bags are sometimes referred to as military duffel bags. The reason for it is because mostly soldiers of the military are seen using it. Army duffle bags are made out of the strongest toughest cloths (canvas), making it an extremely durable bag. It’s got adjustable double padded straps to carry on both shoulders. Usually in the color of black or olive green, military duffle bags are heavyweight and heavy-duty, with a waterproof bottom. Despite the extreme durability of army duffel bags, the cylinder shaped bag stands vertical and the opening is at the top, which makes retrieving items from the bottom of the bag a huge hassle.
